I am currently retired from the library and filing for SSD and fighting the Scranton City Pension Board for my disability pension for almost 3 years now. I loved my job at the library, but was no longer able to perform my job and now after 23 years there have to fight for something that I am vested. How do you compete when they are paying a Dr to say you aren't disabled and taking his word of a Dr. (a rheumatologist) you have seen for 15 yrs plus, not to mention that their Dr only saw me for 20 min. I have no one on the board to represent the library or me. I can't mention that they gave the disability pension to a woman with simple arm problem, without a Dr because she worked at the city and probably knew all of them. There is so much politics involved and meanwhile I have no money coming in for 3 years and if it wasn't for my bf, I would be homeless right now. This is a crying shame for someone who worked her whole life and her only crime is being curse with a multitude of health problems and a couple psychological issues. What they are fighting me over $650 a month! An amount I will get at 55 yrs old anyway, but have fought me since I was 48. I just turned 51 years old.
