Coordinated/directed a family literacy grant program that served families with children birth through second grade in a 4 component prgram, adult education/GED/English Second Language, early childhood, parenting education and parent/child time together.

Duties include maintaining the overall integrity of the program and serve as a liaison to all collaborating agencies, supervise program staff, oversee the budget, and maintain coordination with the Even Start State Office to assure all grant expectations are met, oversee the day-today operations of the program. Due to the nature of the program the average adult students attending the program often face a multitude of issues that often included substance abuse, growing up and living in extreme poverty, and often, mental illness. To combat these issues and to assist and enable these students I went to many trainings in working with this population as well as collaborating with many community resources to serve these students and their children.

Increasing Children's Learning Opportunities Through Families and Communities Early Childhood Research Institute Asset-Based Children's Learning Opportunities StudyWork directly with families in their homes and in their communities involved in the study to learn more about their perceptions of how their children learn and to offer interventions to better understand the effectiveness of particular interventions. This intensive study involved spending approx. five hours weekly with each child and his/her family; worked with approx. 7 children at a time.Collect and compile data from the families and direct observations. Serve as a liaison with the local Interagency Coordinating Council's County Consortiums for the Infant - Toddler Program, Part C and Part B services, in recruiting families to participate in the Learning Opportunities Study; Conduct a three-tier evaluation among trainers, field advisors, trainees, and the impact of the training on families receiving the services. Coordinated and conducted 4 major institutes during the school year for Preschool Handicapped Certification. Assisted families in assessing child care needs, enabling families to identify potential sources of care and to acquire the skill necessary to procure childcare, and train child care providers, all of which were part of preventing possible child abuse.
