Technology is a fascination for me. I clearly remember writing my first computer program in middle school and the feeling of satisfaction when the computer did as I directed. Later when it came time to choose a college major, I chose education. Interacting and teaching people came very naturally to me and I wanted to make a difference in the world around me. I spent four and a half years in public education. In addition to teaching, I served on the school’s technology committee and unofficially as tech support for many of my peers. I then turned my talents to my own children. After spending many years educating other people’s children and my own, I felt the pull back to technology..The universe of data science is rapidly expanding and shaping what we know about ourselves and the world around us. I unleashed my educating skills on myself and taught myself Microsoft Power BI with the help of online tutorials and Microsoft’s education materials. After four months, In December 2022 I took and passed the Microsoft PL-300, Microsoft Data Analyst. From there I set out to learn SQL and more advanced data analytics. I seek a job that allows me to explore data for insights while also communicating those insights for the greater good. While my path has been unconventional, the experience I have working with others through professional and volunteer opportunities makes me a mature and dependable colleague.
