In my 25 year career in research, I have identified that my strongest skill is identifying and understanding social dynamics - that may be in a room of decision makers and influencers, in focus group of respondents or in a data set spanning a large population. Understanding the motivations that drive beliefs, emotions and behaviors are the key to any successful interaction. This applies to marketing research in so many ways - what are the REAL objectives and what business decisions are we trying to inform? Who can truly provide the relevant perspectives? How do they interact with our brand and what other factors exist in their universe? What are the key research learnings each audience need to understand to move the business forward? And more importantly, how can we communicate the results in a way that is memorable and compelling, fun and engaging?
