Michelle has been in the training industry since 1999, pursuing her passion in education and developing people.As a young girl, her ambition was to teach, as she was inspired by her aunt and her primary school teacher to be able to impact the lives of others, in every positive way possible. That ambition took a slight twist when she was blessed with not one, but three, Outward Bound courses (5-day Singapore mobile course, 21-day Australian Classic Challenge and 22-day New Zealand Classic Challenge Course), and with each course she attended, her resolve to be a part of the education industry grew stronger. Her perspective of education has also widened and she found her calling in training and development.Michelle’s opportunity to lead came only in Junior College as a student councillor, but that experience propelled her to greater heights as she took on more leadership roles eventually, in Polytechnic, University and in the community as a grassroots leader.She took on a greater leadership challenge by embarking on entrepreneurship within the training industry, founding ComPas Management Consulting Pte Ltd in 2004, followed by LDC Pte Ltd (Leadership Development Centre) in 2007, LDR Pte Ltd in 2008, and most recently, Chrysalists Pte Ltd on 3 March 2014.She always took it upon herself to hone her leadership skills, through the power of observation, listening and reading. She is fortunate to have found several role models and mentors to guide her along her journey.While running the business, Michelle continuously upgraded her skills and knowledge within the training industry, by attending Community-of-Practice (COP) sessions, workshops (Games Leadership, Basic Facilitation Skills, etc) and certification courses (D.i.S.C., TetraMap & Emergenetics).She believes that “to be able to lead others, you must be able to lead yourself first” and that “people are the spirit and the backbone of any organisation; if you need to invest, invest in the people.”
