Troubleshoot projects for end users across the division. Create, monitor, test, and maintain dynamic data pulls from the National Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) to REDCap. Develop Application Programming Interface (API) calls in SAS/R to export and import data to and from REDCap. Conduct onboarding of laboratory partners, including establishing transport, reviewing test messages, validating message batches (HL7), provide feedback to laboratory partners on message content and structure issues, and provide technical assistance or support. Utilize, test, and update message validation tools, including those in Rhapsody and SAS, according to the standard implementation guide and surveillance system requirements. Import messages into a Structured Query Language (SQL) database, maintain and develop the SAS code to evaluate those messages, and review and act on the error reports created by the SAS code. Write queries in SQL and SAS. Represent TDH and SSI on national calls with other jurisdictions and CDC; participated in writing grant progress reports and narratives, and support other SSI initiatives, such as public health surveillance and electronic case reporting. Contribute to disease surveillance and surge capacity across the state during infectious disease outbreak investigations.

Created and maintains large REDCap database for approximately 800 COVID-19 Xtend contract tracers, which is part of a project with a budget of $40 million. Collects, describes, and analyzes data using epidemiological methods and statistical software. Continually updating processes to make them more efficient, cost effective, and thorough. As a REDCap superuser: troubleshoots REDCap projects, processes, and external modules. Familiar with the role of API.Designed and implemented automated resources and FAQs to be sent to every interviewed case, as well as developed a survey to automatically send to each case who stated they have traveled on an airplane within their contagious period. This provides an additional way for cases to get important flight information to TDH if they do not have the information easily accessible, and a similar process was set for cases to add to and modify close contact information post-interview. Provides data used in the control of COVID-19 and in grant preparation. Assists in public health investigations of diseases and conditions, development of surveillance systems, and data needs assessments. Responds to public inquiries related to specific diseases and/or other health issues in their respective region. Software development, systems analysis, data analysis, professional engineering, and design implementation. Highly proficient in SPSS; familiar with SAS. Acts as point person the TDH state COVID19.info email inbox, Epi-X/CDC notifications, and the COVID-19 call bank on a weekly basis.
