The intern position with this company includes a handful of different tasks within the scientific affairs and production staff. Some of these tasks include: writing program proposals to companies for grants, fact-checking written programs to ensure they are medically correct, researching statistics for filmed programs, creating the script and directing for filmed programs, peer reviewing projects, researching faculty and contacting faculty for upcoming programs, writing short excerpts for online programs, and collaborating with the team to create a well-rounded continuing education program. This required many different skills including the ability to use informatics, effective communication and precision when creating programs.

Completed a 6 week rotation with Glaxo Smith Klein in the department of medical affairs of consumer health products. As an intern for GSK, I was able to complete projects from different departments within consumer health such as regulatory and innovation. My daily tasks as an intern included researching studies involving over-the-counter products, presenting studies to fellow co-workers and establishing where we can get involved or promote our products, dissecting and summarizing regulations of the FDA and European Medicines Agency, formulating CE presentations, and investigating metabolites and drug ingredients for innovation.

This was a semester long IPPE rotation through my university. This rotation as an intern includes tasks of collecting inventory, meticulously inspecting wards, filling and exchanging drug carts, filling prescriptions, intrapersonal communication with other professionals in the facility, researching drug interactions, exchanging of crash carts, and reviewing and improving patients’ drug regimens to maximize their quality of life and minimize their drugs cascade.

Interned at CVS pharmacy for almost 2 years in Randolph, NJ and spent a short duration interning at CVS pharmacy in West Springfield, MA while attending the university. This position required communication and empathy skills because of the constant interaction with patients, co-workers, and physicians. Daily activities as an intern included: customer service with the surplus amount of patients served each day, interpreting and inputting received prescriptions, inputting insurance information and interacting with insurance to ensure the patient gets their medication, filling and compounding prescriptions, counseling patients on current medications and their side effects, administering vaccinations, and ensuring patients receive and leave satisfied with their correct medication.

This was a one semester IPPE rotation through my university. This rotation was also very similar to the experiences and tasks that was done at my internship with CVS pharmacy. Being adaptable to the different system and protocol at this rotation was the only key difference between the Walgreens and the CVS internship.
