I am from Indianapolis, Indiana, and graduate from Indiana University in 2026. I am the oldest of 3 and am a first-generation Asian American. I first became aware of my creative skills when Covid-19 hit and I had a lot of time to focus on hobbies I originally did not have time for such as sewing, crocheting, and learning more about fashion. With these interests, I was able to gain a position as Vice President of the fashion club at school where I gained valuable leadership skills. During this time, I also worked as a receptionist for a nail salon where I learned how to provide customer service through patience, effective communication, and problem-solving skills. Over the summer, I also volunteered at the Martin Luther King Community Center which assists working parents who aren’t able to afford daycare to take care of their children. This taught me the importance of living life with a sense of purpose as well as building close connections/relationships through compassion and empathy.In comprehensive design, my creative skills would be helpful in looking at ideas from new perspectives and different angles that could enhance a company’s sales pitch. This as well as my leadership and communication skills could connect teams that work together toward a common goal. I also hope to combine my creative and problem-solving skills in my future career to pinpoint certain changes that need to be changed and come up with innovative solutions.
