Who am I? I am a geek, in every way. I love everything to do with sci-fi, fantasy, comics, and computers. But I also love learning about anything to do with science, history, politics, or religion. I'm a geek for knowledge.What is my favorite hobby? Working with computers.What is my job? Working with computers.So, I always tell people that my job is my hobby. Could you ask for anything better?!What do I like most about computers? I love working with data and making it work within systems.Put simply, I have been working with data for the past 20 years; I often tell people, " I don't do pretty. I make it work.". Making it work means getting the data where it needs to be in the required format. I enjoy analyzing and transforming data, really, its a passion. I also enjoy troubleshooting problems. Tearing systems apart and analyzing how they work is what I do for fun. Many years ago I had someone come to me regularly with their computer problems. Eventually, he asked, "How do you always know how to fix my problems?", I said, "I am always breaking my computer. If I'm not breaking it, I'm not learning. So, what's the point in having it?"Although I have grown past learning about the computer itself, that philosophy has stayed with me.What are my goals? To continue learning and experiencing life to the fullest. As long as I have my family and broadband, I am good to go!Professionally, while my college experience provides a good base, I am largely self-taught.I work with database systems (MS-SQL, MySQL, Redshift, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, DynamoDB,... and others) regularly. I use .Net (Visual Basic, C#), Java, PHP, JavaScript, and XML/XSLT on a daily basis.I have strong Linux knowledge and skills. There is always more to learn in Linux, but I thrive on using it.I am a self-professed "Windows guy". but a recently converted Mac Fanboy (who also loves Linux).{You could call me a "platform agnostic"}
