Provide leadership and oversight of the safe, secure and humane detention of up to 1,000 sentenced and remand inmates.

As Functional Manager I lead a team of Intelligence and Security professionals in ensuring the safety and security of the Clarence Correction Centre - the largest correctional facility in the Southern Hemisphere.A key member of the Clarence Correction Centre’s management team I manage the Intelligence Capability, ensuring timely intelligence is available to reduce risk and support informed decision making. The team's remit includes identification and mitigation of operational and strategic risks; development, coordination and execution of the security and intelligence collection plan; provision of advice to the Senior Leadership Team and CSNSW to inform management decisions. The intelligence capability supports blended approaches to law enforcement, public protection, counter terrorism and corruption prevention and the embedding of Serco's key operating principles across the multifunctional centre: • Promoting the rehabilitation and reintegration of inmates• Ensuring the safety and security of inmates and the community, and• Providing a decent and respectful environment to staff, inmates and visitors.

Managed accommodation, security and operational requirements in the Protection and Male Maximum Accommodation Areas of the Clarence Correctional Centre to ensure efficient, safe and secure operations and provision of services.Staff management, training and leadership, along with management of accommodation and operational requirements including:• Static and dynamic security of a designated area• Case and sentence management of inmates• Accommodation functions.

In concert with the Deputy General Manager Security and Operations established the Clarence Correction Centre's Security and Intelligence capability and supported the opening of the new facility. I played a pivotal role in establishing the operational processes, procedures and frameworks, ensuring alignment with the legislative, contractual and operational requirements and increasing maturity and operational tempo of the facility. As a Specialist Intelligence Officer within the Australian Federal Police (AFP) I was embedded within Tactical and Specialist Support teams across the Group eg Tactical Response, Police Negotiators, and Search and Rescue Teams providing intelligence and operational support to Urgent Response and Planned Operations. I was the key liaison between the AFP and the broader Intelligence Community and interface between the Tactical Group, their clients, other Law Enforcement agencies - representing the organisation at cross-Government and International forums.Deployed domestically and offshore, including several deployments to East Timor, Solomon Islands and Christmas Island. I was awarded a Presidential Commendation by the President of East Timor Jose’ Ramos-Horta for my role in leading an international investigation in East Timor.

Managed a team of fire-fighters providing emergency response as an urban fire fighter to road accident, structural and wildfires. Responsible for incident command and co-ordination, supervision, mentoring and training of staff and the development and execution of regular and ongoing education programs. Managed the rostering of auxiliary staff and oversaw equipment maintenance. In addition to incident response the station provided support to major events, including event planning and risk assessment, and undertook a range of community engagement activities.

Active duty as an infantry soldier deployed to Somalia in the 1990s, as part of Operation Solace (providing military support to Humanitarian Relief). One of my key roles during this deployment was provision of Close Personal Protection to VIPs.
