Microsoft introduced a new Licensing structure which we advised IT Managers on, which involved qualifying as a Microsoft Licensing Specialist This gave me a good background on Microsoft procedures and products before I moved to Technical Support. When the technical support department came online, we received calls from the general public on all of Microsoft's products. Specific training was obtained on all Microsoft product including Office 2000/XP, Windows 2000/XP and Server products. I was also involved in training new recruits on the different systems used.
As part of my course I spent 6 months work experience in IBM testing top of the range servers for defects and preparing for inspection. The servers (S390) were used in large corporate companies. I worked in a team environment to very strict deadlines and servers had to be completed at the end of each quarter. At the end I was offered a full time job but I declined to further my studies.
