DialedIn is an education technology that implements select teaching ‘best practices’ that maximize student engagement, prevent online truancy, maximize knowledge retention, among others. DialedIn uses machine learning to create nudges that teachers can use to guide students during and after a learning session. One nudge mechanism serves numerous CAPTCHA-like challenge-response tests to online students to determine if they are engaged (or even there). Unlike the typical CAPTCHAs, these tests are constructed from the material on the student screen and appear for only 30 seconds. This addresses both engagement and online truancy. Another nudge mechanism increases long-term knowledge retention by automatically determining a forgetting curve for every student, and refreshing content using ML-created quizzes. Led a team of scientists and engineers in developing a threat detection system that would trigger when unusual activity was detected on a cloud application. This involved building detailed profiles for user activity on different cloud applications like Google Drive, Box, etc, and generating prediction models.

Led a team of postdocs and a PhD student in developing many different projects that shaped the Exascale program at IBM's Dublin Research Lab. All projects involved working on graph problems in the context of building high performance machines for data intensive applications. This role involved working closely with several faculty at Irish universities.

Worked on the resource allocation of some of the largest heterogeneous graphs in the industry (tens of millions of nodes and edges). These graphs would arise from the Verilog/VHDL descriptions of the Intel CPUs, and needed to be partitioned and allocated to a set of heterogeneously connected hardware resources while satisfying multiple constraints and minimizing the communication volume.
