Consultancy work has included creating and delivering a detailed Forensic Laboratory Management course to Saudi Forensic managers and Project Managing the Assessment and Review of existing Forensic Science services in Bahrain with a view to modernisation.My key consultancy services offered include:Assessing, Identifying, Developing and Training/Advising on Management of existing and new Forensic Services worldwideAdvising on Laboratory design and function and creation and implementation of new forensic services based on specific needs of customer.Advising on Human Resource issues from Recruitment and Retention through to Staff and Organisational Structures and People Management services.Overall Project Management from the initial scoping stage through to implementation in relation to Forensic Science services and development of laboratories and associated scenes of crime activities.I retired in 2010 after 32 years in Forensic Science including the last 21 years at Executive Management level as founder of the Police Forensic Science Laboratory Dundee (PFSLD) then laterally as Head of Operations for the Scottish Police Services Authority Forensic Services based in Dundee but serving several UK based Police Forces as well as independent companies. Have extensive experience in creating, managing and expanding Forensic Science services and Laboratories covering all mainstream disciplines including, Biology, DNA (including the Scottish DNA Database), Chemistry, Drugs, Scenes of Crime services within a Police/Public Sector environment.For almost twenty years I was an authorised court reporting Forensic Biologist, with several 100 court appearances mainly in the Supreme court in Murder and Sexual Offences cases. In that period, I personally attended and managed the Forensic Science input at several high profile crime scenes and then undertook the Laboratory analyses, sadly including the Dunblane massacre of Primary School children.

Overall responsibility for the merging and management of three Scenes of Crime units and three Fingerprint units with the Police Forensic Science Laboratory Dundee and the Scottish DNA Database to form the Scottish Police Services Authority Forensic Services East.Member of the SPSA Forensic Services Executive Management Group.Direct Line Manager to the Heads of Biology, Chemistry, Quality Assurance, 3 x Fingerprints managers, 3 x Scenes of Crime managers and the Head of the Scottish DNA Database.Overall responsibility for managing the creation, development and initial Business Continuity Planning for a state of the art forensic science laboratory (Rushton Court was occupied in April, 2010, three months after my retiral!)

Employed to manage the creation and development of a brand new Forensic Science service and Laboratory. Started with two staff serving two police forces and expanded to 75 staff serving all Scottish Forces and several external forces and companies over a 15 year period. PFSLD merged with three other Laboratories and 8 scenes of crime and four fingerprint departments in April 2007 to form the Scottish Police Service Authority Forensic Service. Then became Head of Operations for SPSA Forensic Services - East.
