Designing and implementing experimental apparatus for the sublimation of metal vapors used in chemical vapor deposition of CIGS thin film solar cells. The experiment includes identifying chemical species and metering deposition vapors utilizing UV absorption spectroscopy.Built a complex fully heated vacuum system to sublimate and transfer metal vapors. Developed a control and monitoring system for independent PID controlled heaters, mass flow contollers, pressure transducers and thermocouples. Created LabView code that interfaces with commercial software (Watlow EZZone) to control and monitor system parameters.

Researched and developed an underground thermal energy storage (UTES) system to supply cooling capacity to commercial buildings. Designed and installed a prototype UTES system on the campus of the University of Utah at the Sill Center.Designed programmable logical controller (PLC) for the UTES temperature measurement system using Arduino micro controllers.Analyzed trend data to determine the cooling capacity of the UTES system.Advanced and improved a graphical user interface simulation software package AA-CAES Simulator developed during graduate work. Conducted energy assessments to reduce client's compressed air, electrical and gas usage. Studies included energy assessments of industrial manufacturing processes, HVAC control systems in commercial buildings and energy star certification studies. Improved process efficiency by developing energy assessment tools, using Excel spreadsheets, to demonstrate savings, anomalies, and trends in utility data.Reduced rework, resulting from lost data, by developing a company wide information management system, which included the development of an SQL database. Monitored and examined historical trend data logs obtained during field studies using data loggers with a variety of power, pressure, flow, and temperature sensing equipment.
