I’ve spent my entire career supporting manufacturing operations, first in the Quality Assurance arena as an Inspector, then Quality Assurance Engineer and eventually Assistant Quality Assurance Manager. My love and passion for technology and how it can be used to help transform manufacturing operations soon became very visible. I was most fortunate to work for leadership that allowed employees to take risks and embrace new paths. Thus, my career in Information Technology was born.As with most of corporate America, divestitures and acquisitions are sometimes the norm. Through all of this I was always able to find a place to contribute. During the last acquisition, the existing IT groups were basically disbanded as we had to embrace a totally new support structure. That is when I drifted out of the Information Technology field and became Business Operations Manager leading customer service, shipping and materials through an SAP implementation. I was then selected to serve as the PM for the company’s decision to follow the Porsche materials management philosophy. This required weeks of travel at a time and working with different sites to review, analyze and changes their practices to fall more in line with this philosophy.Then in October of 2014 I was presented an opportunity to re-enter the IT arena as the IT Manager at my current facility in Athens. While in this position I have been tasked with some incredible challenges ranging from replacing a long time IT Manager who was very familiar with existing systems and then having to guide the business through the replacement of those systems with an instance of JD Edwards. As you can imagine the shock factor alone of all of this change was very hard on the existing user base. However, I was able to dig in and grasp the most important areas of change and navigate through those areas to a successful conclusion.Change is scary -It will all be OK - but you might want to tighten your seat belt for awhile.
