· Responsible for the day-to-day floor management of one of Inter-Track’s busiest Off-Track Wagering locations in downtown Chicago. This included being the main interface between thecustomer and the facilities many offerings, including answering questions and instructing novicebettors on the rules and other useful information for the day’s racing lineup. Other responsibilitiesincluded being a presence at the bar and restaurant area of the location while maintaining thecustomer service level of other employees to the high standard of the company. Also responsible for directing employees, in accordance with location-specific goals and promotions, in order to develop player/customer loyalty while increasing handle revenue and supporting the business strategies of the General Manager.· Also needed to be involved in the procurement and set-up of special events and promotions within the facility and make sure these events ran smoothly and efficiently. In addition needed to become proficient in the operation and repair of the location’s many wagering machines, audio and visual equipment and Aloha operating system.

·Worked as account executive for a portion of the Marquette Tribune’s advertising clients. Responsible for maintaining relationships with various area and national businesses that purchased advertisements or were interested in placing advertisements with the Marquette Tribune, the University’s official newspaper.·Responsible for attracting new clients to do business with the Tribune, as well as trying to maintain their relationship with the paper for later account executives to use after graduation.·Responsibilities included various inter-office tasks, such as making sure each clients’ advertisements were ready to be placed in their contracted papers, being the bridge between clients and our creative design department assisting with design and ad size/design questions and requests.·Other responsibilities included calling clients, meeting with clients, “cold-calling” potential clients, and selling the Marquette Tribune as an attractive and worth-while investment for a company.·Position resulted in improved communication skills and enhanced my knowledge of advertising in general, and was great experience in a real-world job type atmosphere with deadlines and contractual obligations etc.
