This is my third time around at founding a startup. After the first two, I went back into the corporate world (a large telco) for nearly 8 years.After many years working inside a large telco, trying to enable the organisation to leverage its vast quantities of data to improve life for our customers, it became clear that if we could measure customer experience (individually) rather than the macro view we all report at a system level, then we would learn what customers actually need and where we are going wrong.Once we start measuring our customers day-by-day and minute-by-minute, we gain a deep understanding of their real experience with our business. Initially, we did this with a view to helping customers, but we soon discovered we effectively had a measure of their health. We could tell if they were happy and likely to stay with us and conversely if they were not happy and likely to leave.SmartMeasures was born. Over time this has grown significantly, drawing on AI expertise gained in a previous lifetime; behavioural scientists to ensure we keep the customer viewpoint front and center; and a passion to measure and deliver business outcomes rather than just predictions. Nowadays, we combine AI (for predicting the outcomes) and Behavorial Science (to change the outcomes) and another AI engine (our Treatment AI) to optimise the outcomes in a platform that operates continuously, constantly learning and adapting to deliver results that far exceed the investment.
