I've been living in London for over 30 years and has always been proud to live in a city with so much history and diversity. I joined London City Steps in 2010 as a volunteer, a social enterprise that specialised in walking tours. I was involved in launching and designing walking tours across the East End of London and Central London, to encourage unemployed young people from diverse backgrounds into alternative careers.In 2011, I joined the Membership Team with Volunteer Centre Greenwich ahead of preparing for the Olympic Games. Volunteer Centre Greenwich was partnered with the Team London Ambassadors Programme to help train and recruitment volunteers for the forthcoming Olympics. The format was successful, I was headhunted by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to help set up a similar local programme for recruiting and training volunteers to be part of the Olympics in a host borough. I've also been a part of other projects with Volunteer Centre Greenwich including various employment projects, mentoring programmes and recruiting volunteers for Tall Ships Regatta in September 2014. In 2016 I was hired by Greenwich Local Labour and Business to join the Customer Assessment Team organising interviews, group sessions, and promoting job opportunities. Supporting group andinformation sessions. Dealing with job seekers enquiries and supporting the work of the front-line delivery team.In 2018 I left Greenwich Local Labour and Business to join corporate charity Mitie Foundation as a Project Coordinator. The Mitie Foundation works with adults with barriers to employment across the UK including disability and the criminal justice system. I was responsible for organising events in the community and HMP Prisons, and promoting careers within the facilities industry. This included working on Mitie's Ready 2 Work programme helping adults furthest away from the job market into work placements in the Mitie Business. A huge percentage of these candidates gained full time employment as a result.In the summer of 2018 I joined Unity Works as a job coach supporting adults with Learning Disabilities and Autism with job interviews, placements and upon starting full time employment. Following on from this I joined the Employment Engagement Team, running Disability Awareness Training for employers to increase their knowledge across Disability and Autism. In 2022 I became a permanent of staff within the Employment Engagement and the lead Job Broker, for the last 2.5 years. I really love my job, and making a difference to adults with all abilities not just disability
