YouTube Art Department – In January 2015, I joined the YT Art Department as a Senior Visual Designer/Illustrator, working with teams across various verticals within Youtube and external Branding Agencies to develop illustration and brand systems. Most notably, this included a visual rebrand of YouTube Kids. I developed a comprehensive style guide and established the look and feel of a "cartoon world", its cast of characters, and working with external animation studios as art director to create "bumpers" both within the the product platform and external marketing. Google Doodler – From May 2010 through December 2014, I was responsible for over 200 illustrations, designs, animations and interactive experiences that appeared as "Doodles" on the Google homepage. It was truly the opportunity of a lifetime to surprise, delight, and emotionally connect with hundreds of millions of people around the world on a semi-regular basis. Though "Doodles" imply spontaneous scribbles, the role often entailed working cross-functionally with engineers to make sure interactive experiences such as playable games or animations would work on all varieties of browsers across all devices. Being culturally sensitive was also a high priority. I worked closely with marketing managers all around the world in order to create visual experiences that were both respectful AND delightful to cultures in each region or country.
