Who would have guessed that after so many years working on my own and thinking that I had left earth sciences behind long ago, I would start life anew as an environmental consultant. I have to say that I just love it!! It’s a great mix of working in the field and working at home. It has allowed me to again stretch my mind in ways that are totally new and exciting. The best part is that I get to work with a great crew (Jeff Robertson and Debbie Cook) who love this career as much or even more than I do. The company I work for is small but eager, intelligent and driven. I’ve only been here a few months but all I can see is a bright future ahead. Please check out and follow Finite environmental. Joint Ventures: Worked closely with Geophysics and Engineering to created detailed stratigraphic mapping in relatively unexplored formations within the deep basin to determine the potential of the land acquisitions. I am currently working on a detailed stratigraphic facies analysis to determine where a new zone in the Cretaceous will be productive. This area consists of a multifaceted intermingling of shorefaces, channels, and hydrodynamic complexities that create pockets of hydrocarbons in areas that have been historically unexplored.Designed and implemented 100+ vertical well drilling programs each year in a mature field in and around the Drumheller area. I guided these programs to drill deeper and unlocked localized oil and gas pools in the Mannville and Pekisko formations. Toward the end of my term in Redland I was able to gain experience by assisting in the design and implementation of horizontal drilling programs in the Viking formation to unlock potential in more unconventional, distal stratigraphy.

Summer student working on the rigs as a well-site geologist.This position taught me about the difficulties and realities facing the data collection on the drilling rig floor. Using these experiences, a practical and patient approach to applying the data and working with field personnel has enabled me to be proactive and insightful so drilling can proceed quickly, on target, with minimal complications.
