I have worked within IT for over 40 years specialising in data related project development from Data Migration to Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence solutions. I have experience in many areas of the industry including Finance, Configuration Management, Customer Relationship Management, Logistics and Communications. In the course of my career, I have had extensive experience in Strategy, Development, Testing, Delivery and Support. My key focus is on data patterns, and I hold a patent in Recursive Reduction Methodology. I specialise in automated delivery and build processes and perform migrations on structured, unstructured and logical systems. My life mission is to study the underlying beauty of data, its symmetries, reflections and patterns. I use reduction techniques to allow systems to naturally express shape and form. My core belief is that all systems are reflections and that through simplification, complexity can be conformed and chaos controlled.

Chief Technology OfficerSmartlegal Ltd May 2019 - Jul 2024South Wairarapa, Wellington Region, New ZealandRecent developments in artificial intelligence have created new possibilities for the adoption of “Law as Code” by developers and implementers of legal systems. Digital law can be summed up by the following phrase:“A set of promises specified in digital form, including protocols which the parties perform on those promises” - Nick Szabo (1996)Smart Legal allows legal professionals to create digital versions of Acts that are deployed as Apps and integrated into operational systems within real time Better Rules workshops.Smart Legal uses legal patterns to accelerate production of legal systems by automating development, deployment and integration whilst maintaining full transparency. This is achieved using Smart Core (a neural network based upon recursive reduction fractals) that implements expert systems.

Data Lineage SpecialistAcc New Zealand Oct 2016 - Dec 2016Wellington & Wairarapa, New ZealandAs part of the Shaping Our Future, programme of work I managed a team of 20 developers, analysts, support staff and liased with key stakeholders. As part of this role I identified a need for full end to end lineage of the reporting eco system. The ACC claims processing system involves over 60M lines of code built over 21 years in 5 languages (PL\SQL, OWB, OBIEE, SAS, Control-M) and provides all operational and analytical reportingACC needed to meet various audit compliance requirements for the purposes of Impact analysis, Cost Estimation, Troubleshooting, Business process reengineering, Simplification, Re-useTo meet these requirements, I went on to develop and deliver an automated process to decompile the entire reporting system. The objective of this assignment was to provide full end to end lineage and provide different abstractions and tracing of data flows through: -• Data lineage maps down to field and rule level• Rule Identification and separation• Colour mapped data flow diagramsThe outcome of this engagement is that ACC is able for the first time to visualise and analyse its entire complex data processing system. This has improved ACC’s confidence in delivery and enabled ACC’s ability to audit its critical processing systems. -
Data Migration ConsultantChorus Nz Limited Jan 2016 - Mar 2016Wellington & Wairarapa, New ZealandAs part of the complex separation of Chorus from Telecom my role was to provide data migration principals and strategy to gain acceptance of the approach between the two organisations.Implemented a data migration of the ERP data from SAP and supporting systems. The early identification of issues and the automation of test scenarios allowed Chorus to change their data model with assurance against the actual data before customising the target SAP solution. This resulted in many issues being discovered and mitigated during the migration development resulting in an significant reduced cost to the project.Following this I moved onto the migration into the new Oracle based Copper and Fibre Fulfilment system (COFFII). This involved managing the development, delivery and overseeing the live transition to the new system within Chorus. Full data lineage was maintained throughout the process allowing for agile delivery and early identification of issues within very challenging time scales. -
