About Mike Hoekstra

With senior-level experience in manufacturing spanning aerospace, space, defense, plastics, oil & gas, industrial, construction, agricultural, recreational, and medical markets, I have been consistently successful in driving growth initiatives, streamlining operations, and improving profitability. I’ve worked extensively in strategic planning and implementation, P&L management, material control, contract negotiations, forecasting, hiring direct labor forces, procurement, logistics, product quality, distribution channels, managing sales and customer service functions, costing systems, and design engineering. Most recently, I served as CEO for Galaxy Group, which included Galaxy Technologies and acquired Astra Manufacturing and DPMS. In this capacity, I reduced costs, improved profits, enhanced productivity, increased transparency for shop floor workers, improved customer on-time delivery, and reduced direct employee turnover. The achievement of which I am most proud is transforming the culture to be teamwork-focused – with open lines of communication and regular meetings. In multiple roles with Chase Industries, I grew sales significantly by building a sales team in China, establishing distributorships throughout Asia, and addressing pervasive issues with quality control and production; I also increased profitability, reduced costs, and streamlined production and distribution. These accomplishments were the result of my ability to lead international contract negotiations, approach challenges holistically, and make substantive changes to systems, processes, and teams to accomplish corporate goals. My international experience spans China, Philippines, Thailand, Korea, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Australia. I have built manufacturing and distribution operations from the ground up throughout Asia and the Pacific Rim, as well as established international sales teams and hired/trained direct labor forces. I have an outstanding record of assimilating international work teams to my organization’s culture, ensuring that the company’s processes and systems are adhered to, and that product quality is consistently outstanding. I have extensive experience working with private equity groups including multiple add-on acquisitions and I possess an exceptional record of building strong relationships with key external stakeholders, Board members, vendors, and suppliers. Further, my safety record is excellent in both union and non-union environments. Outside of work, you’ll likely find me fishing – either for bass or walleye.
