Updated June 2016I am the Art Director for Lamar Advertising in Des Moines, Iowa, developing creative advertising for a variety clients for Out-of-home media—primarily billboards. My secondary responsibility includes assisting with the design of local marketing and sales support materials. I'm a lifelong midwesterner, born and raised in Chicagoland, drawing since I can remember, garnering 27 years of graphic design experience in the ad world. I started out freelancing and living the agency life but found the most fulfillment in over two decades in the Out-of-home advertising industry. I love making small things big, boring things brilliant, and messy things simple. There is a great satisfaction is honing a complex message down to a simple but impactful creative solution. The heartland/metropolis balance of Des Moines has allowed me to wear a lot of hats in a great test market with an great variety of clients. I've had my hands in copywriting, photography, intensive photo editing, custom illustration, video production, web design, social media, presentations, leading creative sessions, producing marketing materials, department budgeting, and paint/print production, but have been able to focus predominantly on a love for creating great visual advertising.
