    The initial phase of the work described below has been published in Environmental Research Letters, Volume 15, Number 9 as an open access letter titled: Plastics in the US: toward a material flow characterization of production, markets and end of life. Please see the link to the paper on the U of M CSS website. I work on environmental and economic research with the Center for Sustainable Systems to study how plastics flow through the US economy. The goal is to develop a holistic national view for analysis and guidance on financial investments to provide greatest impact and strongest economic legacy in reducing plastic waste.Starting in 2020, I have been working with the team building a model of the sources of GHG emissions at the University of Michigan. The model will be used to evaluate various emission reduction strategies. The President's Commission on Carbon Neutrality is sponsoring this work.

    I led the international team that developed the Greenhouse Gas Mitigation Framework for Events, which was released to the public at COP19 in Warsaw. This Framework was used to drive adoption in Russia and Brazil of economically viable technologies that result in reduced Green House Gas (GHG) emissions. These emission reductions were 3rd party verified and used to mitigate the GHG emissions of the Sochi 2014 and Rio 2016 Organizing Committees for hosting the Olympic Games. Through the carbon mitigation projects managed via The Framework, the Program has already delivered 4.3 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emission reductions.In 2012, I trained 15 US military veterans in general building science and the use of Dow spray foam insulation for retrofit applications in the rebuilding of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. Dow collaborated with the not-for-profit builder Saint Bernard Project to support their vision of rebuilding homes, the social fabric, and the economy.
