- Speak to citizens and vistors, answering questions through education of state and federal resource laws and regulations and handling violations of state statutes, administrative codes, and federal laws.- Process and assign cases to patrol officers and investigations.- Provide communications for 850 state FWC officers, DEP special agents, and three federal partner agencies.- Liase with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies, the United States Coast Guard, and multiple branches of the military.- Coordination of search and rescue operations across 8,400 miles of coastline, 13,200 square miles of offshore waters up to 200 miles offshore, and more than 34 million acres of land encompassing a variety of habitats including private lands, wildlife management areas, state parks and state forests.- Conduct basic investigative support for investigations personnel through usage of multiple state and federal databases.- Provide field support for patrol, tactical operations, special operations, covert operations, and internet crimes units.
Mht - Crisis Unit
Responsible for the safety of individuals involuntarily held for mental health evaluation under the Florida Baker Act. Daily responsibilities included working as a team to assess and evaluate patients for threats to themselves or others. Regularly participated in verbal negotiations, de-escalations, and physical redirection and takedown of individuals in severe psychiatric or emotional distress. Also assisted nursing staff with monitoring patient activities of daily living.
Communications Specialist
Responsible for answering and processing 911 and non-emergency calls for law enforcement response with the use of a computer-aided-dispatch system. Experience included providing professional public safety services to citizens in need of help, in distress, and under extreme duress. Specially trained as part of the Crisis Intervention Team for suicide prevention and verbal de-escalation of agitated, aggravated, and emotional individuals. Also trained in human diversity, crisis management, and critical incident stress, as well as 911 handling of active shooter situations in order to assist in the reduction of crime and the fear of crime throughout Seminole County.
