Working in a busy Data Centre delivering Oracle Cloud Services to some of the most well known brands in the world. As the lead of a small team of two I am well versed in knowledge sharing and mentoring others.As a core member of the larger Onsite support team, delivering new Data Centre capacity has been a constant part of life. Now working on the delivery of the third data centre suite for Oracle Managed Cloud Services located in Linlithgow.Daily duties include Hardware Engineering activities including installing and maintaining Servers, Storage Array’s, Large Tape Libraries, Network and SAN Fabric Switches, data centre cabling to a high standard, Firmware updates, Break/fix repair work.Tape and Storage Vaulting (Oracle Secure Backup Software) In more recent times I’ve been actively enhancing my Linux System Admin experience through training courses and working with my peers in the SA area on OS provisioning, Linux patching and system administration.

Working as a break fix Volume product engineer with Sun Microsystems Products covered include all legacy entry level , and mid range servers , Some storage Libraries and a selection of Storagetek Array’s , Experience of equipment installs and a working knowledge of solaris 10 and general unix skills .Also fully participating in an Out of hours maintenance call out rota , dealing with emergencies round the clock.

Worked in both Field (central belt of Scotland) and site based Support (S&N Edinburgh).Roles included Hardware breakfix of servers , desktops, laptops , and printers . Technical troubleshooting in most operating systems including XP and all the common office packagessetting up desktops and laptops for Existing and new users including setting up notes, printers and data transferal.Experience of remote desktop software installations and troubleshooting* In 2007 roles changed to Sun unix engineer , knowledge of solaris 10 and breakfix on all Cat 2 Sun servers/Storage.
