►Analyzed and provided solution to Software Development Process Problem• Selected by management to analyzed the development processes of 2 styles of User interfaces. Determined that the primary style UI did not have any key critical gaps but the secondary style UI area supporting about 50% of the customers was in need of improvement in several key areas. • Generated a project scope using a unique process vision using offshore contract site integrated into our internal processes. Awarded a contract to the India site for more than $1M for UI implementation.►Created Innovative Special Software Process; Software Project Management• Lead implementation of the unique process and provided Project Management of 17 offshore resources (India subcontract site) that developed, implemented and tested the UI. Provided guidance to 6 Emerson resources in implementing and executing Acceptance tests. • Integrating the subcontracting site into the Emerson Processes instead of the basic supplier interaction assured that the contract site processes are as rigorous as the Emerson Processes and the software quality/adherence to requirements was as good as if it was done at Emerson. • Project Managed and provided Technical support of the multiple concurrent projects allowing the Emerson Teams to focus on other aspects of the development.• Minimized Emerson Test resources by assuring that the India site performed thorough functional tests with needed coverage with the quality expected of Emerson software.► Deliver Interoperable Quality UI interface with common look and feel• Delivered the secondary UI product interfaces with enhanced quality and interoperability.• Providing the same look and feel available for all key products.• Laying the process framework for UI creation for future new products. • Outside contracting site use with a fixed price significantly cut the internal costs and included full testing for each developed interface while minimizing internal costs.

► Identified and scoped need for updated Test Application• Championed the need for an updated Software test application in prior role and created a project scope and estimate of resource and development time that was approved by the 4 key product areas Pressure, Temperature, Wireless and Metran. ► Implement Improved Software Development Process with offshore resources• Piloted the Implementation of the New (at the time) Rosemount Product Development (RPD) process including repository layout, project management Microsoft project implementation and the various Software development process steps added.• Provided Rosemount Process training and assessed the state of the processes of 2 offshore sites in Russia and India. Used information gathered from training and assessment to define needed training and skill acquisition. ► Project Managed from Inception to Release • I was selected to manage the project from the start of requirements creation, through the planning, resourcing, architecting, designing, developing, testing and deployment. • Provided the leadership for the multi-group-sponsored software project: Global Engineering Test Solution Project using 5 resources from the Russian Rosemount Affiliate (Metran) for the actual implementation. ► Created a flexible software test tool specifically tailored to Industrial Process Devices • This resulting tool set that was flexible and reusable, capable of saving significant critical path test time as the deployed tool could reduce the test effort by 80% and a test cost reduction compared to the older implementation of an estimated $50,000 for each new product being developed using the new infrastructure.

► Well Respected Test Leadership ability used to support critical project • Took over management of a struggling team of 5 Software Test Contractors performing testing of a product update (new microprocessor). • The project was already in process with only a few new requirements, but the prior testing/ traceability was not complete in the results repository, and the earlier software scripts for the regression tests would not work anymore. • Initiated and completed a full reassessment of the planned tests/coverage. ► Identified test issues and initiated actions to get it back on track• Updated the coverage, traceability and test documentation. Had the team execute the tests within the part-obsolescence timeline, allowing continued product shipment. ► Bonus recognition awarded.► Identified needed actions to prevent reoccurrence• The Heroic test manager activities required for the timely completion of this project also highlighted a critical need to improve the tools used in testing.

► Helped in the Architecture Definition of the functional split between 2 hardware/software components to allow for earlier initiation of work on the longer scheduled component• Supported Program Manager in clarification of 3051 SMV customer requirements, architecture decisions, and software allocation of requirements. ► Project Managed team using Microsoft Project Server, Earned Value, Risk management/mitigation and DOORs Requirement Management system• Project managed and supervised a team of 5 Software Developers and Software Testers developing 3051 PDP pressure-measurement sensing module. The project achieved ECAM Level 3 (Equivalent to CMM level 3). • Test involvement in early requirements definition used as a method to improve the development and test stages.• Implemented a new requirements management methodology using DOORS by Telelogic and traced the requirements to the Design and Test Validation. Improved forward/backward traceability and developed a more efficient test to design feedback of observations.► Debug of 2 parallel software projects eliminated by having this portion of the software project was essentially complete • The early start enabled the PDP Module development to start ahead of the SMV output board development and resulted in the PDP Module being essentially complete prior to the final Development of the SMV output boards.► A program manager comment: “Is it not necessary to report the status of the module software portion of the project; there are no issues or delays affecting the overall project schedule”. • Risk Mitigation by having non-critical path resources complete risk analysis and mitigation activities earlier in the project. • To keep on track the resource hours applied, status, risk status, checked earned value and previewed upcoming tasks were reviewed weekly.

► Implemented 100% Requirements to test Traceability and almost 100% automated testing significantly reducing test time on critical path• As Test Manager Supervised (5 Testers) in the development and implementation of a Visual Basic software test suite for embedded Software code validation and verification. This software significantly improved the test coverage and reduced the regression test time when compared to earlier scripting methods used resulting in the regression test being project critical path for less than a week instead of the normal 3 weeks when using prior methods.► Implemented Concurrent test development in parallel with software development to identify issues as soon as possible.• This concurrent test methodology required non-adversarial interaction and required convincing the developer to deliver partially completed software and accept some findings of not yet implemented features AND required the Testers to approach test as a help to developers to get the implementation right (not a got you).► improved predictability of when the software will be ready to release by driving down observations early. • Based on management’s estimations release delays would result in $40k per day in estimated lost-cost savings for each day late so saving 2 weeks’ worth of release time not only got the product released earlier but also saved money. • Reuse of this suite saved 8 months of test effort and critical path test time on a following high priority RapidFire project (normal 10 months).
