Served as an Americorps member in the husbandry department of the GSTC. Responsible for the daily care of reptile and avian patients of a wildlife vet clinic.

Assist with development and maintenance of natural environments on public lands utilizing habitat management practices in order to increase wildlife populations and diversity. Perform wildlife surveys to monitor affects of management practices. Also responsible for the removal of invasive grasses, forbs and timbers to promote native prairie restoration.

Responsibilities focused upon the daily maintenance, and husbandry of tigers, lions, cougars, bobcats, leopards and servals, as well as bears (black and grizzly), coyote, macaw and hoofstock collection whom were rescued from private owners, breeders and other facilities. Duties also included food preparation and feeding, monitoring and documenting for behavioral changes, feeding habits, health concerns and enrichment. Assisted staff with animal treatments and habitat construction. Practiced valuable public speaking skills performing educational tours and keeper talks, as well as customer service while serving as gift shop attendant.

Performed daily husbandry for marine species including food preparation, feeding, behavioral monitoring, as well as aquaria cleaning and maintenance. Developed enrichment and target training skills working with sea turtle and shark collections. Assisted with animal treatment and quarantine as needed.
