My work with DR Horton Custom Homes was varied and interesting. In addition to selling existing homes, I also sold homes in various stages of construction and made custom modifications as needed. I worked closely with the construction supervisor to implement the changes and to insure quality control.

As head of the drafting/design department I wore a number of hats including the development of unique designs for modular homes and modifying existing designs. I supervised the initial run of any new design in my function of quality control. I attended trade shows and accompanied management to acquire and design new locations for manufacturing and consulted on the design of new plants.I was priviledged to work for Young American Homes until they were purchased by Brown & Root in 1972. At that point I chose to go back to school to complete my degree.

Immediately after bootcamp we were shipped to Guantanamo Bay Cuba for the Cuban Missle Crisis. After returning to the states I was posted first in North Carolina and then at the Polaris Missle Base in South Carolina. Except for a two year period at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, I've been in the south ever since.Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Rifle Sharpshooters Badge, Pistol Marksman, Good Conduct Medal.
