I am a social studies teacher at Gotham, where I write and teach curriculum that aligns to both ELA and math standards, and work closely with co-teachers in an inquiry project that continually improves our teaching and our effectiveness with individual students. Classes I’ve taught have included History of Me, a family history and local history course, Expwn Your Future, an algebra II / precalculus class with a content focus of big history and economics, and Africa Facing Forward, a course on 20th century Congo, Algeria, and Ghana.

At Fannie Lou, I taught classes in geometry, social issues, and history. In geometry, I followed the Algebra Project curriculum, and in social issues and history I centered my curricula on student inquiry and research papers. After teaching SAT prep over the summer at Fannie Lou, I was hired full time. At that time I led the development of a PSAT/SAT curriculum.

I taught SAT prep skills to high need students in schools and youth organizations throughout New York City. These skills include knowledge of the content and knowledge of the test. The most important skill, however, is a critical, purposeful, and confident approach to the test. I've helped over 600 students improve their SAT score, some by as much as 800 points, by using score report analysis and Greek and Latin root instruction.
