    I joined the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute at Monash University in 2014. I was subsequently invited to join the Faculty of Medicine leadership group as Associate Dean and then as Deputy Dean (Research and Research Infrastructure). Before Monash, I was at La Trobe University (2000-2014) including as Head of the Department of Biochemistry (2010-2013) and Deputy Head of School. I was involved in the expansion of the Department to 20 research group leaders and in the establishment of the new La Trobe Institute for Molecular Science. I undertake research into mitochondrial biology and disease with over 120 publications and an H-index >65. I have supervised >20 PhD students. My research has been supported by the ARC, NHMRC and AMDF. Lab alumni have gained independent lab head positions and industry leadership (CEO). I undertook my PhD supervised by Peter Hoj (La Trobe/Adelaide) and then as an Alexander von Humboldt Fellow with Klaus Pfanner (Freiburg, Germany). I was president of the Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (ASBMB, 2015-2016) and also was a reviewing editor for the Journal of Biological Chemistry (2013-2016). I have served on a number of committees including as a member for the Scientific and Medical Advisory Panel for the Australian Mitochondria Disease Foundation (AMDF), the National Committee for Biomedical Science, the Assigners Academy for the NHMRC and the Grant panel and Section Grant panel committees for the Human Frontiers Science Program (HFSP) in Strasbourg.
