First & second year sales of this product eclipsed the sales forecast by 40 % and grabbed market share from our major competitor. "Passage" is making major inroads in the $300 million dollar freestanding desking market because the product launched "on time", at the projected cost targets, and with quality customers expect from Herman Miller products. This product won Gold at NeoCon 1998 in the New Product category. The "Ped Product Development Team" re-designed the HMI metal storage pedestal so that it could be manufactured on HMI's first "lean" mixed model production line. The "Central Database Team" integrated Mapics with the BAAN MRP system and was responsible for completing the implementation of a knowledge based configuration system used by the Meridian customer service group.Reported to: Vice President of Freestanding Product Development.
