Namibia

Responsible for business development for Weatherly including identifying new projects within the southern African region and managing various studies by consultants to demonstrate the potential of projects to the BOD. Also responsible for corporate development and improving business processes and controls at existing operations including continued responsibility for long-term mine planning at Tschudi copper mine.

Tsumeb, Namibia

Mining Manager, acting GM and the Registered Manager for the Tschudi Copper Mine. Worked on the development team since 2011 and transitioned to Mining Manager once construction started. Responsible for all mining technical services and mining contractor. Tschudi is Namibia's newest open pit copper mine ramping up to full production of 17,000tpa copper cathode via SX/EW. Construction started in January 2014 and first cathode produced February 2015. Mining uses conventional open pit techniques at a rate of 800,000bcm/month producing approx. 250,000t ore/month.Acting GM and responsible for short and long term scheduling and budgeting, HR, safety, etc.

Namibia

Responsible for all exploration and development projects in Namibia. Completed the PFS for the Berg Aukas Zn-Pb-V underground mine and was responsible for mining technical aspects of the BFS for Tschudi copper project - which went on to obtaining debt funding of USD80m. Transitioned to Mining Manager of the mine, setting up the technical services department from scratch and the initial mining contract.

Namibia

Responsible for all aspects of the company’s copper exploration projects in Namibia. Annual budget of budget US$7m, targeting Copperbelt-style copper/silver mineralisation in remote NW Namibia. Exploration area approx 90,000Ha. Set up the company in Namibia and managed all aspects of the company’s operations including liaising with Government departments, administration, personnel, tax, acquiring additional exploration licences, etc.

Sell-side analyst covering small and mid-cap mining companies during a very volatile, and interesting, period for the industry. Worked closely with sales and corporate finance departments to maximise impact and positively used industry experience and knowledge to develop role.

Chief geologist for developing copper/gold mine - first major mining investments in country for 40 years. Total US$60 million project. Promoted from position of Chief Geologist, Kansanshi Mine, Zambia, in order to transfer experience from previous project, and also run all exploration for FQM in the country. Commissioned all geological aspects of the mine including budgeting, IT, recruitment, procedures development and training. Undertook short-term and strategic planning for an operation mining 25,000 tonnes per day of material and economic forecasting for budgeting process. Provided financial analysis of mining and process forecast budgets and optimisation of mining schedule to maximise economic returns.

Chief Geologist responsible for all geological operations related to development of US$250 million dollar copper mine. Responsible for geological aspects project from pre-feasibility study, through definitive feasibility study to 1st year of successful commercial operation. Developed and managed mining and geological functions and commissioning of mining operations, with close liaison with production personnel to ensure correct ore supply to the process plant on a continuous basis. Within 6 months copper production was 10% above forecast with 90,000 tonne daily movement.

Working with the existing technical staff, consultants and recruiting team members to improve grade and tonnage produced and explore for additional ore. Implemented computerisation of the resource/reserve and mine design functions.

Project Geologist leading teams in remote locations undertaking copper exploration. Also undertook evaluation projects on a number of prospects and mines in the DRC, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

Project geologist for greenfield gold exploration in remote locations in Congo-Brazaville and Tanzania - resource drilling at Golden Pride and Geita Gold Mines.
