I am immensely enjoying my latest adventure as a First Officer at Delta Air Lines. The role of Duty Pilot puts me in a small group of pilots at Delta. Working in the Operations and Customer Center (OCC) allows me to build connections with people across the airline that I hope endure for my entire career. I see in real time exactly how all of the moving parts fit together, and I still get to fly the line bolstered with that knowledge. Working “on the line” has been an absolute blast, and I am blown away by the professionalism and passion of those around me; whether it be in the Training Department, Chief Pilot's Office, or the crews. I also get a lot of motivation from the customers that I get to interact with every time I fly. The news is full of the unruly and even violent passengers, but an overwhelming majority of them are pleasant, thankful, and kind.I recently wrapped up a 20 year career as a United States Marine. For the last two and a half years of it, I maintained a robust Aviation Safety Management System as the Director of Safety and Standardization for the largest AV-8B Harrier squadron in existence, and closely managed an honest, accountable safety culture in a segment of aviation which inherently carries a greater risk than most others by virtue of its mission. As a Marine attack pilot, I have experience hand flying very high performance fixed wing aircraft in all types of weather, threat, and other challenging environments. I take utmost pride in integrating with the team around me and providing exactly the service required by my customers.First as an enlisted Marine, and then as a commissioned officer in the United States Marine Corps I have combat proven leadership experience, and a lifelong spirit for service. I hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate with over 2000 hours of turbine pilot-in-command time among a total of over 3500 total hours. I also bring a strong background in leadership, instruction, and cross functional project management.
