I was on entrepreneurial leave at Argonne from January 2018 through July 2020. As Software Architect in the Mathematics and Computer Science division, I led a team that has been working on enhancing scientific productivity by automating the hard work of doing computational workflow on supercomputers, clouds and other distributed and parallel computing platforms. Among other accomplishments, our team created and supported the Swift parallel scripting language. Its extreme-scale version, Swift-T, has achieved rates of over 1.5 billion tasks/sec on 500K cores of Blue Waters, and is among the fastest programming models for many-task computing.
