Following graduation from Liverpool University with a Chemistry degree and after a number of years working in R. & D. for Unilever in the UK, Mike studied for an MBA before moving into the manufacturing and operations areas (via technical and quality management roles) with other major food manufacturers in the UK. He subsequently managed manufacturing plants in both the UK and the United Arab Emirates, which produced a wide range of packaged oils and fats, before moving to the US in 2000. Since then he has been running a highly successful consultancy business, LipoLogic LLC, which is based near Raleigh, North Carolina. In the past 12 years, he has worked in close collaboration with TMCI Chemtech, acting as their Technical Consultant on the East Coast of the US and also carrying out projects both for, and on behalf of, Chemtech in a number of countries in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, as well as in the US. In this time, Mike has also carried out consultancy work for several major US companies, including Kelloggs, General Mills, Sara Lee, Loders Croklaan, Schwans Inc. and Spectrum Organics, and several international companies, including IFFCO and AB Mauri.. He also acted as Technical Director, on a consultancy basis, for C.F. Sauer Foods, a major manufacturer of margarines, spreads, butter blends, mayonnaise, sauces & dressings, for 4 years between 2007 & 2011. Since 2011 Mike has been carrying out a similar role for another major US oils and fats company. In addition to these activities, Mike runs the US office of BoothSmith Food Technology, which is a UK-based network of food technology consultants handling a wide variety of projects all over the world.Due to Mike's extensive network of contacts in the industry throughout the world, he has been able to assist clients with the recruitment of suitable personnel for key managerial and scientific positions.
