I am a Family Physician and Pediatrician and founder and previous Medical Director of the rural Coastal Health Alliance, a full service, 3-site Federally Qualified Health Center, in rural West Marin County, in Northern California.I received my Medical Degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and did my residency in Pediatrics at Children’s Hospital Oakland. I am Board Certified in both Family Practice and Pediatrics.I am a graduate fellow and alumnus of the California Health Care Foundation’s Leadership Fellowship. I have served as an advisor to subsequent cohorts of CHCF Leadership Fellows.I have been an Instructor in the School of Nursing, California State University, Sonoma, 1996-present. I was elected to be a Board Member, and only physician on the 30 member Board, at CPCA from 2009-2015, until I was asked to join the staff as Vice President and Chief Medical Officer there in November of 2015. I currently chair CPCA’s Care Transformation team at CPCA.As CMO at CPCA, my duties include enhancing and empowering clinicians’ roles in the member organizations. I am also committed to developing clinician leadership, and to providing a clinical perspective for advocacy at the State and Federal levels, as well as trainings and decision support tools to assist the clinicians. I am further committed to helping to make members’ workplaces become employers of choice, where all our clinical teams experience joy and empowerment in their workplaces.
