Michael Sullivan is the Director (Chief Operations) at the National Supercomputer Centre (NSCC) in Singapore and a Senior Principal Scientist in the Materials Science and Chemistry Department at the A*STAR Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC), where he has been contributing since 2004.At NSCC, Mike is dedicated to engaging the HPC user community in Singapore, strengthening technical partnerships, and overseeing broad operational aspects. He has served on various committees and task forces within NSCC and A*STAR, including a tenure at the A*STAR Compute Resource Centre.Mike has extensive experience in utilizing HPC to advance computational materials chemistry and catalysis for applied research and industry collaborations. His expertise includes first-principle calculations, molecular dynamics simulations, and informatics to design new materials for applications such as catalysts, alloys, energy storage, electronics, and organic solar cells.He has co-led significant grant projects, including the Accelerated Catalyst Development Platform (ACDP) and Accelerated Materials Development for Manufacturing (AMDM). Within ACDP, he focused on high-throughput calculations and helped to develop a workflow software for catalyst screening called CatPlat.Academically, Mike holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. from St. John’s University, Collegeville, MN. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of chemistry, materials science, and physics.
