Mike Chapman is a public affairs consultant with extensive legislative and regulatory experience at the highest levels of government. Chapman is expert at finding solutions to difficult problems for his clients utilizing relationships developed over decades on Capitol Hill and within the Biden Administration. Chapman is currently working on behalf of a range of clients, specializing in financial services and health care related issues, and has been cited by Roll Call newspaper as one of Washington’s power lobbyists.Chapman currently works with clients on capital formation policies for startup companies, including regulatory and legislative treatment of SPACs, IPOs, and Direct Listings, among other areas, working directly with the Securities and Exchange Commission; compliance issues related to the mortgage finance and other issues regulated by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), which regulates Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, and others; cryptocurrency policy; cannabis reform; drug pricing reform and other related health care issues; tax legislation; and, broadband deployment to rural and Tribal lands.Mike Chapman began his career as a Legislative Assistant in the office of Congressman J.J. “Jake” Pickle of Texas, a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee and an icon of Texas politics. Chapman then served as the first Legislative Director for former U.S. Senator Tim Johnson and worked closely with Johnson over the 28 years he served in the U.S. House and U.S. Senate.Following his time on Capitol Hill, Chapman was a Congressional lobbyist for the National Association of Realtors in Washington D.C. In that capacity, he worked successfully on issues affecting banking regulation, tax policy, environmental regulatory relief, housing and mortgage finance. Chapman next served as a Congressional lobbyist for the American Medical Association where he successfully worked to pass legislative initiatives addressing health system reform, Medicare, lawsuit reform and public health, before co-founding the DC Strategies Group, where he is currently based.Mike Chapman is an alumnus of Texas State University, where he was twice elected student body president, and of The Johns Hopkins University, where he received a Master of Arts in Government, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
