About Jeff Kramer
Our goal at Native Connections is to bring high-speed Internet service to Native Americans where they live. Native Connections was formed to work with Tribes and the government agencies in charge of the distribution of federal broadband funds. We will do so in a manner that empowers Tribal members to take charge of the Internet service they receive and to become their own Internet Service Providers (ISPs) in a matter of years. Under our business model, Tribes will take ownership of their own networks. Throughout my career, I have demonstrated a strong ability to translate complex issues into easily understood and actionable causes and am able to manage the often conflicting views of proposed regulation from the consumer and the business sides. I have expertise in accessibility issues, and have created revenue opportunities by making products/services accessible to people with disabilities.I have a proven track record of success in working with national legislative and regulatory bodies to help mold public policy to recognize the needs of the underserved while controlling creation of burdensome new regulations. As an example, led the coordination of an effort to draft legislation that terminated in the passage of the CVAA that among other things included such items as required access to closed captions and user guides for television for the blind. I have a strong background in leading consumer advocacy programs where I balance policy and political direction with the ability of organizations to comply with new regulations. While at AARP I spearheaded the effort to implement the National Do Not Call Registry. This entailed coordinating activities in the states, the business community, Congress, the Federal Trade Commission and the Federal Communications Commission.
