About Mike Blake

End user experience is paramount to me, this means usability followed closely by security. Why am I good at my job? I care. I don't go into work for money, or just because I love tech (although the money is handy, and I do love tech). I do it because I care that people get frustrated when they can't access their email, or they have to complete a 10 step form to get some help with something that should "just work". They're frustrated because they've got a little bit less of the most precious resource any individual has, time. How do I do it? I am constantly improving my understanding of any kind of technology I come into contact with, I have a compulsion to know how things work from end to end, this benefits me in fault finding and more importantly, fault avoidance. I work cautiously, numerous company wide implementations and migrations have taught me it's best to plan projects holistically and implement stepwise.

  • Crown Prosecution Service
    Case Preparation Officer
Crown Prosecution Service Feb 2004 - Aug 2004
    Southampton, United Kingdom
This was a temporary role I took after Nice CTi Systems, this was only ever meant to be a stop gap position and served well as such, it was at times interesting work, I was responsible for collating evidence and ensuring all relevant statements and evidence had been seen by both the defence, prosecuting barrister and magistrate's office.Clearly there was a high level of responsibility and discretion involved in this role, I stayed there until I was able to find a 1st line support role the suited my career aspirations.
  • Nice Systems
    Rma Coordinator
    Nice Systems Feb 2003 - Feb 2004
    Southampton, United Kingdom
I was the only RMA coordinator for the EMEA area and as such, I was solely responsible for coordinating all returns and repairs, this involved working closely with the workshop facility in the new forest and required weekly meetings with them to confirm status of repair and ensure repair targets were being met.In this role I dealt with a large number of companies largely from the UK and western Europe, this was a highly focussed customer service role that involved working to tight deadlines and keeping customers up to date with their RMA status.I was enjoying this role as it was a challenging position in which priority and deadline management was key, unfortunately however the company was undergoing a merger, ultimately I was made redundant as the entire service operations base was moved to Israel.
