If the party who obtains the order does not request a hearing then the person who is served may request the hearing. Again, there is a limited window of opportunity to request a hearing. If a party does not request a hearing, or attend a scheduled hearing on an Order for Protection it is possible that an Order for Protection could be put into place for a period of 2 years.
