Mike Fitz is a Director and TD at Team People at Google. He possess expertise in live multi camera directing, technical directing, enps, inews, opus and 18 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "Mike is one of the best director/TDs I've had the pleasure of working with. He keeps his head on, his eye on the prize, and just generally makes good TV. He doesn't back down from a challenge, and pushes himself outside of his comfort zone when new technology is thrown at him. Capable in all aspects of news directing...hitting times, handling breaking news, green producers, etc...he can also jump out of a rundown and get creative when segments go arwy. Solid trainer as well. Knows just how to push people to get them to thier full potential. I wouldn't hesitate to work with Mike again." and "Mike Fitz's background as a Director & Technical Director in broadcast news and sporting events, makes him an asset to every production. He is always committed to every production, and prepares diligently to ensure the highest caliber of output. It's a pleasure working with him whenever the opportunity comes up, because he always communicates changes, no matter how small, to all members of the production team. He always commits 100% to every production and expects the same out of his team."

Director / TdKswb 2008 - 2011San DiegoWhile at KSWB I was an integral player in the expansion of the morning newscast from 3 hours to 5.5 hours a day. My years of front row control room experience brought stability and consistency to the expanding and dynamic broadcast while I directed and switched various hours. I also trained other directors and technical directors, providing insight and rapid improvement to their on air skills. As I played my role of production leader the show went from hash marks in the ratings to the #1 morning show in San Diego while expanding local inventory almost 100%.I have hands on experience with Ross television switchers, with and without Overdrive. At KSWB we used ENPS and OPUS newsroom computer software and I have experience with a variety of control room equipment from robocams and routers to CG machines and servers.

Director / TdXetv 2000 - 2008San DiegoI came to San Diego originally to work as the startup director for the launch of FOX’s morning show. Our show started at 2.5 hours a day but was 5 hours by the time I left. I supervised a large crew of about 15. I trained a number of TD's, AD's, audio ops, floor people, and had input on every aspect of the production.Highlights of my stay at XETV capped with 24/7 breaking news on 9/11, 24/7 breaking news of wildfire coverage in 2003 and 2007, a mayoral debate, and a few episodes of our award winning music show, FoxRox. We also did large remote shows from popular San Diego locations like SeaWorld and the Del Mar Racetrack. While at XETV I also made the schedule for the 40+ member production department for over a year. I supervised the production of and directly traffic'ed a number of sponsored billboards, ensuring all the money was made.
