Sep 2010 - Present

Network Analyst

Yum Brands, Inc

I was a member of the team that supports the Yum global network. Both domestic and International networks are based on MPLS technology. I also handle the three campuses of the corporate offices; This position required in-depth knowledge of IOS and ASA software. The network had an installed base of several hundred switches and routers throughout the world. Daily tasks included software upgrades, troubleshooting and project work.Major accomplishments include replacing all closet switches at the Louisville campus. This was a $200,000 project that involved replacing over 40 Cisco Catalyst 4506 switches. I managed the purchase, delivery, programming and installation of this hardware. Through the entire project not one trouble ticket was generated.Implemented a VPN serving international clients using a pair of ASA 5550 appliances. This application is fully redundant and serves over 500 users a day.Implemented custom scripts using Network Compliance Manager to manage TCL script changes on Cisco 2820 routers for VoIP systems in Pizza Hut stores nationwide. This scripting saved the company thousands of dollars in truck rolls to the stores.Rolled out Cisco Unified Wireless architecture access points and controllers to the Louisville and Dallas campuses. This project had a budget of $100,000. Converted autonomous access points to LWAPP code and implemented Cisco WCS software for management of the environment.I worked on a rotating on-call schedule that requires complete knowledge of the Yum network and ability to resolve problems quickly. I have received several performance awards for both my on-call work as well as project work. One award was from the office of the Treasurer for work I did as part of the implementation team for Payment Card Industry compliance. I developed a VLAN strategy for segregating payment card traffic from regular traffic.

Apr 2006 - Sep 2009

Network Analyst

Louisville, Ky., Us

I implemented conversion of the company headquarters infrastructure from Token Ring to Ethernet technology. This project had a six-figure budget and required procurement and installation of numerous hubs (later upgraded to switches) and routers. I completed this project on schedule and within budget with no disruptions to company operations. The company needed new WAN infrastructure two years later. I worked on the team that procured and installed AT&T MPLS using new Cisco 2600 routers. The head end of this configuration used an ATM DS3 to AT&T while the far end was Frame Relay. This project encompassed over 100 branches in 12 states. Rollout was completed over three months again with no disruption to normal operations.Daily responsibilities included maintenance of DNS using BIND on a FreeBSD I installed and maintained. I also performed routine moves, adds and changes both at headquarters and branches. I worked closely with several vendors that provided market data feeds to the company. This network handled time-sensitive financial transactions worth millions of dollars every day.

Feb 1997 - Oct 2005

Communications Analyst

Louisville, Ky, Us

I held various operational and technical jobs during my time here. I was on the team that originally implemented a campus network backbone using Cisco hardware. I also worked as the server administrator for several departments and led efforts to interconnect these department networks together.Other significant positions include systems programmer and manager of the CAD Lab at the Vogt Building when it first opened. I built the original VAX-based network in this lab.
