I write back-end RESTful web services for our Ancestry.com website using C# and.NET and I write threaded caching client-proxies to improve response time and reduce internal network traffic and loads on databases. We transitioned from our own data center to AWS and from C# to Java, requiring the re-writing of C# services in Java running initially on AWS.

Worked in C++ Forensic Toolkit. Fixed a number of problems with our NTFS filesystem code, wrote decryption code for Bitlocker, Credant, SafeGuard Easy, SafeGuard Enterprise, SafeBoot, GuardianEdge and PGP encryption schemes. The decryption code involved everything from distilling and rewriting code provided by the vendor to creating new code based on.

Worked in C# doing a complete rewrite of the Family Tree Maker product. Worked mostly with back-end code including all database code, code to interpret dates. Made extensive use of regular expressions to parse a wide variety of date formats entered by the user or imported from other family history programs. Wrote extensive unit tests for code and promoted.

Initially worked in Java writing automated acceptance test framework and tests for online family history website. The framework I wrote included an intranet website in Java for test results reporting including an area graph showing pass/fail rates for each test run.Later began a new project from scratch writing a family tree program in C++ using Boost.

Wrote software to design turned parts and convert that design into instructions to run a CNC lathe to cut the part. Wrote software to automate government forms. Used ProModel manufacturing simulation software to simulate processes at Geneva Steel to help identify ways to improve production efficiency.
