Designed and developed hydraulically-powered specialty drilling tools for making and breaking drill pipe joints in the oil and gas industry. Headed engineering department for the majority of employment.• Produced a revolutionary new roller spinner with the versatility to handle all oil well tubulars, incorporating automatic centering and size adjustment. Invented and patented the planetary gear system internal to the rollers to achieve the API standard recommended torques for casing.• Coordinated engineering effort to move from pneumatically-piloted to hydraulically-piloted systems. Planned the future upgrade to electrically-piloted systems.• Improved design of pedestal mounted drill pipe power tong by consolidating all valves to one centralized hydraulic manifold and modifying the extension arm to remedy all interference locations during extension/retraction.• Initiated and supervised implementation of SolidWorks Enterprise PDM system to boost company design data organization and overall efficiency. Designed and developed laboratory automation instruments for the pharmaceutical and biotechnical industries. Corresponded extensively with product managers, customers, vendors, and manufacturing personnel to provide products that fulfill customer requirements. Generated manufacturing-friendly, electro-mechanical design packages for a variety of devices in compliance with ISO 9001:2008 standards.• Spearheaded development of a unique new life science instrument that automates sample preparation for biological cell analysis in four independently operable reaction chambers. Designed the mechanical and electrical workings of the unit, assembled the engineering prototype, authored sections of the user documentation, tested the software, and demonstrated the instrument at the customer’s site.• Designed specialized sample recovery system fixtures to minimize dead volume & maximize drug product recovery in a pharmaceutical inhaler testing application.• Ensured UL/CE certification for instrument used to visualize air flow patterns in a cleanroom environment by designing and verifying additional safety features and rewriting the user guide.• Performed Factory Acceptance Tests on instruments in-house and Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification (IQ/OQ), and Preventive Maintenance (PM) protocols in the field.• Exhibited life science product at the Fuel Ethanol Workshop (FEW) in 2012.
