As a civil/structural design engineer I am a firm believer in achieving optimum solutions based on a holistic view of all the issues involved. I am convinced that engineering at its best is about solving problems in a simple, elegant way. Too often we overcomplicate things and by so doing fail to meet basic criteria - functionality, buildability, robustness, durability. It is all too easy in today's economic climate to pursue perceived cost savings at the expense of programme or quality, or to seek short term savings that compromise future operational and maintenance needs - or at worst are simply unsustainable.I am committed to getting the best out of people, through high performing teams that communicate and collaborate both internally and with stakeholders. I like to work with individuals who understand the bigger picture and are motivated to excellence in all they do. I believe that the best performance is generated by open, mature conversations that get to the real issues and look to improve the future rather than dwell on the past.Post pandemic we need more than ever to engage with the climate emergency and sustainability issues we face. I am committed to going all in on sustainability to do my part in making a tangible difference.
