With only one other HR Manager and administrator providing a full HR service, including creating policies and procedures for Europe for 18 months. Once recruitment for a full Recruitment department began, I set up the Training & OD functions. I also ran the Netherlands HR office for nine months.Once the dotcom bubble burst, I was asked to set up and run the redundancy programme which retrenched 80% of the European staff in three months. I was chosen partly because of my experience of hiring them, my knowledge of employment law in all five countries and my rapport with staff in those countries. I was a member of the Ford National hourly-paid and weekly paid negotiation terms.I also provided Employment Law advise to all UK HR operational staff. I developed a Labour Law training course for junior HR staff.I kept track of industrial relations trends, practices and conditions of service in the British manufacturing industry. As the Ford representative on the National Motor Industry Industrial Relations Forum, I monitored our competitors in the motor industry, with a keen eye on the recently arrived Japanese car builders whose innovative work practices were disrupting the car industry at that time.I later joined the Dagenham factory as an HR Manager in the Body Plant, with additional responsibilities for another factory in Croydon.Projects and Achievements:• Successful settlement of Wage and Salary Agreements for the period 11/91 to 11/93.• Development of 1991/92 Redundancy programmes.• Successful defence of all Industrial Tribunal cases.
