I am currently serving at Maritime Capability and Trials Assessment in Portsmouth. My role involves the following:• Responsible to the submarine platform manager for providing independent capability assurance to the MOD for new and in service Communications systems and equipment. • Assessing equipment integration for compliance to quality standards utilising current Defence Standards, trial orders and equipment documentation. • Conducting sea and shore based trials on all classes of submarine and surface fleet communications systems on behalf of equipment and platform responsible customers.• Production of trial reports detailing areas of limitations to ensure equipment owners understand corrective action required to achieve project completion. This requires interaction with contractors and review of activities via the Collaborative Working Environment and SSMG applications• Chairing trial meetings and attendance at technical liaison meetings with customers and suppliers. • Responsible for the planning and allocation of manpower and resources for the Communications section.

In this position I represented the Royal Navy whilst providing the UK commitment to NATO. My role included the following:• Responsible to the NATO Secretary General to provide continuous coverage of world-wide events involving political, military, economic and environmental disasters.• Gathering, analysing and distributing Open Source Intelligence on specific areas of interest or assessed threats.• Acting as a continuous alerting cell for the Secretary General, Military Committee and NATO Delegations on important world events.• Providing a focal point for enquiries relating to NATO personnel and areas of responsibility.• Producing and giving power-point presentations on key world-wide areas of interest to NATO personnel.• Securely Producing, distributing and storing information.

During my time at the Royal Naval Submarine School I headed the Submarine Communications Instruction Department and my roles included the following:• Managing, planning and course allocation for a team of seven communication instructors.• Planning courses for all ranks and rates of Submarine Communication trainees.• Organising course syllabus, content and timings. • Liaising with Quality Control to ensure all course documentation met with command and government guidelines. • Ensuring course content, progress tests and final exams were up to date and available.• Lead Submarine Communications Instructor for the section. • Providing submarine communications knowledge expert advice for Flag Officer Submarines and the communications departments of in service submarines.• Ordering and managing all communications cryptographic material.• Handling and managing of classified signal traffic pertaining to submarine communications.This experience has been gained whilst serving as an instructor at the Royal Naval Submarine School and service on the following units:HMS TrafalgarHMS VictoriousHMS TrenchantHMS Turbulent
