I believe that poetry can be used as a healing tool for people who have insecurities about themselves, as far as self esteem is concerned. I have seen people blossom into wonderful, confident individuals because they have learned to express themselves in ways that touch others by writing and reading their poetry. There are many people who want to express themselves to others and be heard without judgment or criticism. At DUPAAS, you are encouraged to share your innermost feelings and experiences through the written word. I always tell people that everyone has a unique poem to share. I read other's poetry and tell them honestly what might enhance their work. I have been asked to edit or critique the work of several authors.
